Picking up at the ranch

Most people pick up. You come out to Jack County, we load the boxes, and you get to see the country the beef was raised on — which, if we are honest, is half the point of buying this way.

Bring coolers or blankets if you have a drive ahead of you. The beef comes to you frozen solid, but a couple of hours in a hot truck in August is a couple of hours in a hot truck in August.

Before delivery day

  • Clear the freezer first. Not the day of — the week before. Space needed by share size.
  • Get a new freezer cold in advance. An empty freezer that has been running 24 hours will hold your beef properly. One plugged in that morning will not.
  • Have a plan for stacking it. Ground on the bottom, steaks where you can reach them, and label the baskets. You will thank yourself in February.
